MSC Musica Breaks Free From Moorings

A scary moment was captured in Brazil last Friday when MSC Musica broke free from her moorings during heavy winds, sending both gangways into the water.

A tug was quickly on the scene to bring the ship back to the pier and get it tied back up.

The ship was on its first stop on a nine-night cruise from Argentina. There were no injuries and no major damage to passengers or the ship.

Holland America Guests Raise $450,000 For Ukrainian Aid

Holland America has announced that over the course of 10 months, it raised $450,000 for aid for Ukrainians. Starting last March on every ship in the fleet, guests could make a $25 donation to participate in a 5k “On Deck for a Cause” walk during their voyage.

Money went towards humanitarian aid organization Direct Relief, which works to provide doctors and nurses with resources they need. It’s already provided over 1,000 tons of medical material aid requested by the Ukrainian Health Ministry.

The fundraising coincided with a pledge of $3 million to charities to help Ukrainian refugees from the family foundation of Micky Arison, who’s the chairman of Holland America’s parent company Carnival Corporation.
