Holland America Line is finally back in Asia.

The line’s ship Westerdam arrived at Pulau Komodo Island in Indonesia on Saturday, marking the line’s first visit to Asia since the cruise industry shutdown in 2020. On Sunday, the ship visited Lembar, Indonesia and today stopped in Bali. The Indonesian calls are part of a 30-day repositioning cruise that started in Auckland, New Zealand on December 20th and will conclude on Thursday in Singapore.

Other port calls along the way included Tauranga, Christchurch, and Dunedin, New Zealand; Hobart, Melbourne, Sydney, and Cairns, Australia; and other New Zealand and Australian destinations.

Following a routine dry dock, Westerdam is scheduled to begin a full Asia program in early February, sailing from Singapore and Japan to various countries including China, the Philippines, Korea, Indonesia, and Japan.

The ship’s Asian season will end in late April and it will embark on a northern Pacific crossing to Seattle with calls in Japan and Alaska. Westerdam will begin a spring/summer season of Alaska voyages from Seattle in early May.

Other features of the ship include B.B. King’s Blues Club, the Greenhouse Spa & Salon, Club HAL kids’ clubs, BBC Earth in Concert, cooking demonstrations, and wine tastings.
