Royal Caribbean Cruise Ship Resumes Service Following Extended Dry Dock
After an extended time in dry dock, Royal Caribbean International’s ship Mariner of the Seas has resumed passenger service out of Port Canaveral.
The ship arrived to dry dock at the Navantia shipyard in Cadiz, Spain in late February for routine maintenance, which included a pool deck and waterslide upgrade, fresh paint in various places, maintenance to the propellers, and general hotel and engine work.
The dry dock ended up being extended, causing the ship’s planned April 1, 2023 voyage out of Port Canaveral to be canceled. In a March letter to guests who were booked on that sailing, Royal Caribbean said “Mariner of the Seas is currently undergoing dry dock for routine maintenance… which will require some extra time for these upgrades to be completed. Regrettably, this means our April 1st, 2023 cruise has been cancelled. We know this news is disappointing and apologize for the impact to your cruise.”
Impacted guests could choose to be rebooked on another Royal Caribbean cruise and receive a 50 percent future cruise credit, or request a full refund and also get a 50 percent future cruise credit. The canceled sailing was a western Caribbean itinerary to Cozumel and Costa Maya.

Now, Mariner of the Seas is back in Florida following a trip across the Atlantic from the shipyard and departed today on a four-night western Caribbean voyage to Cozumel.
Currently, the vessel offers four and five-night western Caribbean sailings. In May, the schedule will shift to longer six and eight-night eastern, western, and southern Caribbean itineraries for the summer.
Highlights of the ship include the FlowRider surfing simulator, an escape room, The Bamboo Room tiki bar, Jamie’s Italian specialty restaurant, Izumi Japanese specialty venue, Boleros Latin lounge, Chops Grille steakhouse, and laser tag.
