Celebrity Cruises Modifies Baltic Sailings
Celebrity Cruises has modified some sailings sailings next year for voyages that were suppose to call to Russia. A total of eight cruises on both Celebrity Silhouette and Apex have been changed, dropping St. Petersburg next spring and summer.
A note to booked guests on impacted voyages read, “Due to the ongoing uncertainty around our ability to call on St. Petersburg next year, we have made the decision to remove this port from all of our 2023 itineraries.”
The news comes on the heels of Norwegian Cruise Line recently dropping Russia next year.
NCLH’s PortMiami Terminal Has a New Mural
Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings’ PortMiami terminal now has a new mural.
Ernesto Kunde won the company’s Call to Artists contest, which called on southern Florida artists to submit original artwork to be considered for a massive outdoor mural. Each year, there will be a new contest winner, whose mural then replaces the previous one.
The multi-story piece was inspired by Miami’s mangroves, and faces the water at the terminal. In addition to the mural, Kunde won a 10-day artist residency at the Artist Loft on Oceania Cruises, as well as $100,000.
Fight Breaks Out on Carnival Elation
It was a late night on Wednesday for some Carnival Cruise Line guests. A fight broke out on Carnival Elation late in the evening as the ship was heading back to Jacksonville, Florida.
Onlookers caught the footage on camera as the fight was being broken up by security.
Elation was on the last night of a five-night Bahamas cruise. The ship left for its next four-night cruise on schedule.
Just last week, a fight broke out on Carnival Magic as it was returning to Manhattan, and another fight recently occurred on Royal Caribbean’s Navigator of the Seas. Cruise lines have a zero altercation policy when it comes to fighting onboard.
Answering a guest on his Facebook page, Carnival Brand Ambassador John Heald said, “Anyone that gets involved in a physical fight Will not be allowed to cruise with us again.”
